Student answer (Band 6.0)
Music is an important medium of communication. Some individuals argue that music can bring people together from different cultures and ages. I completely agree with the statement because music helps people appreciate different cultures and makes a common platform between younger and older generations.
On the one hand, people state that music plays an important role in introducing new cultures to people because music often reflects the traditions, values and lifestyles of a particular community. Indegeneous people represents their local cultures by traditional songs and preserves them as heritage. For example, the Baul songs represent the rural life of Bengal and the experiences of ordinary people. Through listening to such music, people from another culture can understand the Bengali traditions.
On the otherhand, music can connect people from different generation by using shared experiences and emotions. Although, younger and older people share different emotions, they appeciate same music for different reasons. For example, younger generations enjoy PinkFloyd because of its distinct sound and meaningfull lyrics, whereas older generation listen it with the memories of their youth. When people listen to this songs, may build a connection with different people and share their different perspectives.
In conclusion, it can be said that music has the power of making connection with culture and people with different ages through a common platform. So it is important to preserve traditional music and instrument which works as a heritage for younger generation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you completely agree that music can connect cultures and generations. Both parts of the prompt are addressed, with relevant examples such as Baul songs and Pink Floyd, and the conclusion returns to the central idea. However, the two main points are not developed equally fully. The cultural paragraph explains how traditional songs reflect a community, but the generational paragraph makes the connection less clear: the claim that listeners “share their different perspectives” would benefit from a specific explanation or example of how this happens. The conclusion’s recommendation to preserve instruments is also introduced without much support. The response is 13 words below the required minimum, so add relevant development rather than padding.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs addressing the two aspects of the question, and a conclusion. The signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow this structure, and the examples are placed in the relevant paragraphs. This gives the response a coherent progression. Some linking is mechanical, however, and a few references are unclear. For instance, “When people listen to this songs” does not clearly identify which listeners or songs are meant, while “Although, younger and older people share different emotions” interrupts the flow and does not establish a clear contrast. To strengthen cohesion, connect each example explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim and use pronouns with clear antecedents.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “medium of communication,” “traditions,” “heritage,” and “shared experiences and emotions.” These choices allow you to discuss both cultural identity and connections between generations. However, the range and control are uneven: several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “makes a common platform,” “music can connect people … by using shared experiences,” and “making connection with culture.” Spelling and word-form errors—including “Indegeneous,” “appeciate,” and “meaningfull”—also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise phrasing would help express your ideas without changing their meaning, especially when explaining how music creates a shared experience.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “music often reflects the traditions, values and lifestyles of a particular community” and a contrast clause beginning “whereas.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Subject–verb agreement is incorrect in “Indegeneous people represents,” and the sentence “When people listen to this songs, may build a connection” lacks a clear subject in its second clause. There are also errors with articles and plurals, as in “the same music” and “different generation,” and punctuation after “Although” is misplaced. Review agreement, articles, and sentence completeness, then proofread complex sentences to ensure each clause has a subject and verb.
