Student answer (Band 4.0)
Few people believe that music is a good way of bringing people of different cultures and ages together because it is considered as one of the most strongest means of communication in the world. I strongly agree with this statement as connects and brings people together.
Firstly, music is a universal language which people do not have to understand and can enjoy. It allows people to communicate which makes it more easier to get to know each other. People from different other cultures can

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
Your position is clear: “I strongly agree,” and the opening begins a relevant reason by describing music as a “universal language.” However, the response is incomplete and does not develop the argument or provide the relevant examples requested. The final sentence, “People from different other cultures can,” is unfinished, so the main supporting point is left unexplained; there is also no discussion of how music brings different age groups together. The response contains 69 words, which is 181 words below the 250-word minimum; 15 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. To address the task more fully, explain at least two reasons, support them with specific examples, and complete the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic sense of organisation: you state your view in the opening and introduce a first supporting point with “Firstly.” The ideas about music as a universal language and communication are relevant and appear in a sensible order. However, the response ends abruptly in the middle of a sentence, so there is no completed development, conclusion, or overall progression across the essay. The link between “universal language” and “get to know each other” is also asserted rather than explained. Use separate paragraphs for your position, developed reasons and conclusion, and connect each point with clear explanations rather than relying mainly on a single sequencing word.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “universal language,” “communication,” “cultures,” and “brings people together,” which makes your main idea understandable. There are also attempts at more emphatic phrasing, such as “strongest means of communication.” However, several expressions are inaccurate or awkward: “Few people believe” does not clearly introduce the opinion in the prompt, and “different other cultures” is redundant. “More easier” is also an incorrect form, while “as connects” does not express the intended meaning clearly. Aim for precise, natural collocations and avoid repeating broad terms such as “people” and “together”; for example, specify how music creates shared experiences across communities and generations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response includes both simple statements and an attempt at a relative clause in “a universal language which people do not have to understand and can enjoy.” This shows some effort to combine ideas, and the overall position can be understood. However, control is uneven: “I strongly agree with this statement as connects” is missing a subject after “as,” and “It allows people to communicate which makes it more easier” has an unclear clause connection and an incorrect comparative construction. The final sentence is incomplete, preventing the reader from seeing how you would handle a fuller range of structures. Practise complete clauses, accurate comparative forms, and punctuation between linked ideas, then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
