Student answer (Band 6.0)

Music plays an important role in everyone's lives, and connect people from different culture and backgrouds. Some peple believe that music is an effective way to bring people of different cultures and ages together. I completely agree with this opinion because music creates a common interest and helps people understand different traditions and cultures.

Firstly, music is a universal language that does not always require people to understand the same words. People from different countries can enjoy the same songs, rhythms and melodies even they speak different languages. For example, last month in toronto there was a concert , organised by the indian people and diljeet dosanjh came there and i saw so many people from differnet countries were enjoying the diljeet dosanjh's songs even they did'nt understand the lyrics and language but were enjoying with the beats and melodies.

Secondly, music and create strong connections between different generation. Although young people and older adults may have different taste in music, they can still enjoy music together. For instance, parents and grandparentes can introduce tradition and classic music to younger , while young people can share modern music with older generation. This exchange helps family members understand each other's preferences and spend quality time together and also strenthen there family bond even more.

In conclusion, i strongly believe that muis is an excellent way to bring people of different cultures and ages together. It provides cultural understanding, strengthens relationships and creates enjoyable shared experiences.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction to the conclusion: you completely agree that music can connect people across cultures and generations. Both parts of the prompt are addressed, with relevant support: the Toronto concert illustrates cross-cultural enjoyment, while the family example explains how musical tastes can be shared across age groups. The response therefore covers the task well, but the two examples are not equally developed. The concert anecdote is specific, whereas the generational point is more general and could use a concrete example or further explanation of how music builds understanding. The response is also 7 words below the required 250-word minimum. Develop the second example and add a little more explanation to meet the requirement and strengthen your support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The essay has a clear, effective structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present separate reasons, and the conclusion restates your position. The progression from music connecting people across cultures to connecting generations is logical. Signposting such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In conclusion” makes the organisation easy to follow, and the examples are placed appropriately. To make the flow more natural, reduce reliance on these formulaic transitions and connect some ideas more smoothly within paragraphs. For example, the sentence about sharing music could lead directly into how this exchange helps family members understand one another. Check that references such as “this exchange” have an unmistakable link to the preceding idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “universal language,” “traditions and cultures,” “melodies,” and “strengthens relationships.” These choices help communicate your ideas, and the concert example gives you opportunities to use specific terms. However, spelling errors and some imprecise or unnatural word combinations reduce accuracy, including “backgrouds,” “differnet,” “strenthen,” and “enjoying with the beats.” There is also repetition of “people,” “music,” and “together,” and some phrases could be more precise, such as “different taste in music.” Proofread spelling carefully and build a wider set of natural collocations for describing shared musical experiences and cultural exchange.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a concession in “Although young people and older adults may have different taste in music” and a reason clause beginning “because music creates a common interest.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and punctuation are noticeable. For example, “Music plays an important role … and connect people” does not maintain subject–verb agreement, while “even they speak different languages” needs a grammatical connector such as “even if.” The concert sentence is long and difficult to control, and “music and create strong connections” has a faulty verb construction. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and divide long examples into shorter, accurately punctuated sentences.
