Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
People believe that music connects individual of different cultures and ages. I strongly agree with this opinion.
On the beginning, music is a sound full of melodious instruments which calms our heart and mind and makes us feel relaxed and peaceful. There is no age limit to hear music. However individuals can have different music taste according to their personality, lifestyle and so on. It connects people of different caste, religion and age groups. Music can also define the beauty of a culture. For instance, a person whose religion is hinduism but listens to buddhist songs is because of music. It hepls to connect people who have same personality as other individuals.
Likewise, it also helps in connecting people from different age groups. People can be listening to same song athough they are of different ages. It is because it matches their personality and the things that are happening in their life. For example, people who like dancing songs vibe with same kind of person and people who like rock songs vibe with individual having same taste. That is because music connects our soul and mind. Our mind changes with the type of music we are listening to. It also helps in making the mood of people. A person who is listening peaceful music is a lot happier and calm than a person who listens to heavy metallic songs.
In conclusion, music is that sensation which helps to connect people from different age groups and culure. There is no limitation in age and culture in listening to music.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: “I strongly agree,” and the response stays focused on music bringing people together across cultures and ages. You give relevant points about shared musical tastes and mood, with examples involving dance and rock music. However, the cultural argument is not fully explained: the example of someone who follows Hinduism listening to Buddhist songs does not clearly show how music brings people together. The age-group discussion also focuses more on people with similar tastes than on how music connects different generations. Develop these points with a specific situation, such as family members of different ages sharing a song or people attending a cultural music event, and explain the connection.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs on culture and age, and a conclusion. “Likewise” signals the move to the second main point, and examples generally follow the ideas they illustrate. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from music’s calming effect to religion, culture, and personality without showing how each point supports the main claim. Some links are repetitive or mechanical, particularly repeated uses of “It also” and “That is because.” The conclusion repeats the central claim but adds little synthesis. Organise each body paragraph around one clear reason, then use a specific example and an explicit explanation of how it demonstrates connection.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary such as “different cultures,” “age groups,” “personality,” and “mood,” which makes the general topic clear. There are also attempts at more expressive language, including “connects our soul and mind.” However, the range is limited and several choices or combinations sound unnatural or imprecise, such as “a sound full of melodious instruments,” “vibe with same kind of person,” and “heavy metallic songs.” Spelling errors such as “hepls,” “culure,” and “athough” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise topic vocabulary and natural collocations, for example “shared musical interests,” “traditional music,” and “heavy metal.” Check spelling and word forms during revision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, and the main message is usually understandable. Some sentence forms are controlled, such as “There is no age limit to hear music.” However, errors in agreement, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “music connects individual” needs a plural noun, while “On the beginning” and “athough they are of different ages” show problems with grammatical phrasing and spelling. The sentence beginning “For instance, a person whose religion is hinduism…” is difficult to follow, and “It connects people…” has an unclear reference. Punctuation is also inconsistent, as in “In conclusion, music.” Practise accurate complex sentences and check articles, plurals, and commas when editing.
