Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You give a clear position in the opening, agreeing that music brings people of different cultures and ages together, and both body paragraphs address the two parts of the topic. The examples of international concerts and family listening are relevant. However, the response develops these ideas only briefly: the cultural paragraph mentions friendship and respect without explaining how music creates them, while the age paragraph ends with a general reference to schools and weddings. The response is also substantially below the required 250 words, so there is not enough explanation or support to fully address the task. Develop each example with a specific situation and explain how it supports your view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph about culture, and one about age. The sequence of ideas is generally easy to follow, and “Firstly” and “Secondly” signal the two main points. However, progression within the paragraphs is limited, and some links are awkward or unclear, such as “when some people songs with other countries” and “while young people also them.” The opening also contains an unclear connection between the opinion and the writer’s agreement. Use complete, logically connected sentences, and add a concluding paragraph that restates your position. More precise referencing and transitions would help the reader follow how each example supports the argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “traditional,” “international concerts,” “festivals,” and “different age,” which helps communicate the main subject. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling errors make parts difficult to understand. For example, “universe language” is not the natural expression for music shared across cultures, and “This creats friendship and respects different between cultures” does not clearly express the intended meaning. “olds song” and “Similerly” also show inaccurate forms or spelling. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for discussing cultural exchange and shared experiences, and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including the example beginning “For example,” and the sentence about grandparents, parents, and children. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles, and punctuation occur frequently enough to make some ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “music bring” instead of a correctly formed subject–verb pattern, and the opening sentence, which lacks clear grammatical connections between its ideas. The sentence about older and younger people listening to songs is also incomplete. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with clauses using “because,” “when,” or “while.”
