Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people believe that music is an affective way of brining people of different cultures and ages together. I completely agree with this view because music is the common thing between every culture everyone has a diffrent type of music and every age bracket is listening to a kind of music.

Music serves as a universal language that transcends cultural differences, so it can be understood regardless the difference. For exemple, International music festivals allow artists and audiences from different countries to share their traditions and musical styles.

Also, through music, people can discover different cultures. And finally, music can ecourage people to exchange cultures with mutual understanding.

Another benefit of the music that it can connect all the generation, people with different ages can enjoy the same songs and they can share the same musical intrests. For instance, : Parents and their children may attend concerts together, creating shared experiences despite their age differences. Moreover, older generations can introduce traditional music to younger people. And finally, concerts and musical events encourage social interaction between younger and older individuals.

In conclusion, music is the most efficient way to connect people from different cultures and ages, since it's an universal language that can be understood from cultural and generatioanl difference.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the opening: you completely agree that music can bring different cultures and age groups together. You address both parts of the question, with relevant examples such as international festivals and parents attending concerts with their children. However, the response is under the required 250 words, and several points are asserted rather than explained. For example, you say music encourages cultural exchange and that concerts promote interaction, but do not show in detail how this happens or give a specific example. The conclusion repeats your view without adding much. To strengthen the response, develop each main reason with a concrete example and explain its significance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs about cultural and generational connections, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to identify. However, progression within the body paragraphs is limited, and linking is often mechanical. The repeated sequence “Also” and “And finally” makes the ideas feel like a list rather than a developed argument. The phrase “For instance, :” also disrupts the flow, while the final sentence largely repeats the introduction. Organise each paragraph around one central reason, then connect the explanation and example clearly. Using fewer, more precise transitions and adding a concluding implication would make the progression more coherent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “universal language,” “musical styles,” “traditions,” and “social interaction,” which helps communicate your ideas. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “an affective way” and “the common thing between every culture.” Spelling errors, including “brining,” “diffrent,” “exemple,” and “ecourage,” are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the writing. Repetition of “music,” “different,” and “people” also limits flexibility. Build a wider set of accurate expressions for cultural exchange and shared experiences, and proofread spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer structures, including “Music serves as a universal language that transcends cultural differences” and the sentence beginning “For instance,” about parents and children. However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or difficult to follow. Examples include “it can be understood regardless the difference,” “Another benefit of the music that it can connect,” and “since it's an universal language.” These show problems with sentence construction, articles, and grammatical patterns. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly the colon after “For instance.” Practise building accurate complex sentences with clauses such as “which” and “because,” and check each sentence for a complete grammatical structure.
