Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the maps, such as the amphitheatre, the water feature, and the new facilities. However, the overview is somewhat weak, and the description of the changes is occasionally imprecise. For example, the phrase 'the entrance for car parking is .' is incomplete, leaving a significant gap in the information provided. While you have identified the key changes, the report lacks a more cohesive summary of the overall transformation. To improve, ensure all sentences are complete and provide a more comprehensive overview that highlights the most significant trends, such as the shift from a more natural/leisure-focused park to one with more structured facilities.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The response is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of the description. You use some cohesive devices like 'subsequently' and 'probing further' to link ideas. However, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is a bit abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'the one in south-west is demolished,' which requires the reader to look back to identify what 'the one' refers to. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that references are explicit would help elevate the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'amphitheatre,' 'demolished,' and 'installed.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For instance, 'the maps articulate the information' is slightly unnatural in this context; 'illustrate' or 'show' would be more appropriate. Additionally, the sentence structure regarding the car park is incomplete, which impacts the clarity of your lexical expression. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise vocabulary to describe spatial changes and ensure that your word choices are consistently natural and accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are several grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, the sentence 'the entrance for car parking is .' is incomplete, and 'the area went under significant changes' should be 'underwent.' There are also minor issues with articles and prepositions, such as 'in south east' (should be 'in the south-east'). While these errors do not completely obscure the meaning, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for sentence completeness and correct article usage.
