IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The given plan shows the changes that have been made in GRANGE PARK since 1920. At the north of the park, there is ARNOLD AVENUE and at the opposite end towards south, there is ELDON STREET.

starting from center, fountain has been replaced by Rose garden which is in square form and every sides of square garden consists of seating area. While two entrances remain at the same positions, there has been addition of another entrance for underground car parking at the south-east corner. Above the underground parking is water feature and at its north, there lies the children's area which used to be a pond for water plants in 1920.

In place of rose garden which was beside pond water, there is now a cafe. whereas, the other rose garden stays in the same spot which is located at north-west. Another major change would be the replacement of stage for musicians with the amphitheatre for concerts.
