Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response provides a clear overview and identifies the main changes, such as the conversion of the rose garden and the pond. However, the description of the park's layout is occasionally confusing. For example, the mention of 'grasshouse' and the specific locations of the car park and fountain are somewhat inaccurate compared to the visual data provided. While the main features are highlighted, the report lacks the precision required for a higher band, as some details are misidentified or described in a way that makes the spatial relationships unclear. To improve, ensure that the reporting of features is strictly aligned with the visual evidence.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression from the general overview to specific details. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In addition', and 'However' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'by which one garden is refurbished into a cafeteria, significantly'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to track which part of the park is being discussed. Improving the variety and accuracy of cohesive links would help the text flow more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, with attempts to use descriptive terms like 'refurbished', 'reconstructed', and 'remodeled'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'different things replaced by the location' and 'delighted waterfall'. These errors do not prevent understanding, but they limit the range and precision of the language. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise terminology for describing map changes, such as 'transformed', 'converted', or 'replaced by'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and article usage, such as 'the amenties upgraded' (missing auxiliary verb) and 'the both upper and lower horizontal sides' (incorrect article placement). Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'the middle area have a fountain'. While these errors are frequent, they do not impede overall communication. Increasing the accuracy of basic grammatical structures and refining the use of prepositions would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
