The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.5)

The maps illustrate the changes that took place in Grange park between 1920 and the present day. At a glance, there are some newly built facalities which make the park more attractive and well-organised.

To begin, there is a new underground car park, an amphitheatre, a new entrance and a new café being introduced. There are various places in the park which have been moved, replaced and reorganised to utilise the space. The seats which were previously allocated in the different corners are now rearranged around the small rose garden, which is located in the center of the park, previously there was a big fountain in the middle of the park. Furthermore, in the bottom right corner there was a glasshouse which has been replaced by a small pond. In addition, there is a dedicated space for children in the top right corner of the park. Previously, there was a tiny pond for water plants.

Overall, the park underwent significant changes over the period, with the most notable developments being a new amphitheatre, a café and an underground car parking.
