The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

the two maps illustrate,how grange park has changed since it first opened in 1920 and its current layout .

overall,the park has undergone significant redevlopment while some original features such as,the rose garden and entrance have been retained .many others have been replaced by modern facilities including an amphitheater,a cafe ,a children's play area and an underground car park.

in 1920 left side of the park contained a stage for musicians surrounded by three rose gardens and several sitting areas in the center there was a fountain with entrances on both the northen and southern sides.

today,the stage has been replaced by an amphitheatre for concert's.one rose garden reamins in the top left corner,while the central fountain has been removed by a largeer rose garden with seats on all four sides.

on the eastern side of the park,the pond for water plants and the glass house has been removed in thier place ,a cafe and a children's play area have been built in the north-east.

a water feature now occupies the south-east corner and an entrance to an car park has been added from eldon street.
