Student answer (Band 7.0)
The two diagrams outline the structure of grange park in 1920 and its current state. The public park is situated near the Arnold Avenue and Eldon street. The areas available in park includes children's play area, gardens, cafe, water features, glasshouse, sitting area, ponds, fountain, stage for musicians, Amphitheatre for concerts.
Overall, both public parks consist of similar facilities, but recent park contain modern features. The previous park looks spacious as compared to current park.
To begin with 1920s park, there was a fountain on the center of park just behind that, there was a stage for musicians. On the top entrance, two rose gardens were situated side by side. On the corner, small pond water was there specially for plants survival. On the bottom entrance gate, glasshouse was there. On the other hand, another rose garden was located. Additionally, seats were evenly distributed to each side.
Current Park shows various alterations in facilities of park. Similarly, there was two entrance gates, one Arnold Avenue and another Eldon street. Conversely, underground parking was constructed to facilitate visitors. Fountain was replaced by modern water feature, that was situated on the right hand near the Eldon street. On the center of park, a substantial rose garden was surrounded by numerous seats. Beyond this, an Amphitheatre was occupied for concerts. Above it, there was another small rose garden. Cafe was launched in modern park on the right hand near the Arnold avenue. Similarly, play area for children was also located there.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the park in both 1920 and the present day. You provided a clear overview and made relevant comparisons between the two time periods. However, the response would benefit from more precise reporting of the spatial relationships. For example, stating 'on the top entrance' or 'on the bottom entrance' is slightly vague. To reach a higher band, ensure that all key features are described with greater accuracy regarding their location and changes, such as the specific transformation of the rose gardens and the addition of the underground parking.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into four paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of your ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'Conversely', to link your points. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Beyond this, an Amphitheatre was occupied for concerts.' Improving the flow between sentences and using a wider variety of linking words would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to describe the park's features, such as 'alterations', 'distributed', and 'substantial'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation. For instance, 'plants survival' is unnatural, and 'cafe was launched' is not the most appropriate term for a park facility. Additionally, there are minor errors in article usage and pluralization (e.g., 'on the center of park' instead of 'in the center of the park'). Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and focusing on more precise collocations would improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' is often missing) and prepositions ('on the center' instead of 'in the center'). Some sentences are slightly awkward, such as 'Fountain was replaced by modern water feature'. To improve, focus on consistent article usage and ensuring subject-verb agreement. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher band score.
