Student answer (Band 6.5)
The structure or map in the first diagram demonstrate the Grange park for people that was opened in 1920 which is located at Arnold Avenue. Furthermore, the second diagram illustrates the structure of the same park of today's time.
It elucidate the structure of the park and the modifications that has been made for people.
In first diagram, the framework of the park was outdated. People were tend to go outside the park for having refreshments because there is no cafeteria in 1920's. Seating area were too far, families who have large group of people need to be seated together for spending quality time together they were not able to sit due to the distance seating.
However, new design is up to dated and according to the society's expectations. Seating plan is designed around the rose garden for people to spend quality time together and have a beautiful fragrance around them because of the roses.
The transformation of park has a great impact on people to relax there. Cafe area is newly designed and implanted there for people to have snacks on their picnic and they don't need to go outside.
The one change that has been made is the underground car parking in the basement to park their vehicles in the garden so people don't need to go somewhere else for parking. Stage for musicians is also very impractical these days. New generation or youth fond of concerts. For that Amphitheatre has made for people to enjoy their favorite concert along with their family and friends.
The modifications that has been made in the park today has plays a significant role for people to come out from their busy schedule and live their best moments in the garden.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers the main features of the park in 1920 and today, identifying key changes like the cafe, seating, and the amphitheatre. However, the analysis is somewhat subjective and descriptive rather than purely analytical. For instance, phrases like 'outdated' or 'impractical' reflect personal opinion rather than objective reporting of the visual data. To improve, focus on describing the spatial changes and the addition or removal of features more neutrally. While all parts of the task are addressed, the lack of a clear overview paragraph summarizing the most significant changes (e.g., the transition from a simple green space to a modern facility) limits the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression from the 1920 layout to the modern one. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In first diagram' (missing article) and 'The one change that has been made is...'. The transition between ideas could be smoother; some sentences feel like a list of observations rather than a cohesive narrative. Paragraphing is present, but the logical flow between the description of the old park and the new one could be more clearly signposted to improve the overall structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to describe the park features effectively. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'transformation', 'modifications', and 'amphitheatre'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'implanted there' (instead of 'installed' or 'added') and 'new generation or youth fond of concerts' (missing verb 'are'). While the meaning is clear, the range is somewhat limited and lacks the precision required for higher bands. Improving collocations will help elevate the lexical quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('modifications that has been made... has plays'), missing articles ('In first diagram'), and awkward phrasing ('People were tend to go'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the content, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on consistent subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and verb tenses, particularly when describing historical versus current states.
