The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.5)

The Illustration shows the development of Grange park since it was inaugurated in 1920.

Overall, there are significant changes that occur in order to modernize the public park. The centre of the garden used to have a big fountain which is replaced by a rose garden surrounded by seating arrangement. Addition of cafe, separate children's play area and Amphitheatre for concerts became the centre of attraction.

In 1920, Grange park was opened at Arnold avenue, where three small rose gardens were built in corners adjacent to seating areas. There used to be a fountain in the centre of the park with a stage for musicians on the left for performance. A glasshouse was at eldon street side entrance.

The facilities within the park have been updated since 1920. Today, the centre of the park consists of a rose garden surrounded by a seating arrangement with Amphitheatre on the left side of the garden where concerts of musicians are played. A children's play area has replaced a pond for water plants from the previous plan. A new underground parking facility has been updated in recent plan.
