The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The maps illustrate transformation of a grange park from the year 1920 to the present day. Overall, the park has experienced significant redevelopment, with several new facilities being added, while some original features have been removed. The area has become more organized and suitable for recreational activities. In 1920 the park mainly consisted areas for rose gardens, glasshouse, pond for water plants, seats, fountains to create a cool atmosphere accompanied with stage for musicians. At present the garden has changed its structure according to modern lifestyle. The rose garden has been relocated and placed centrally along with adjacent seats, pond for water plants were demolished and replaced by café, play area for children, a water feature has replaced fountain and the stage has now been expanded into a huge amphitheater for concerts. Additionally, an entrance for the underground car park has been made for the visitors. The new structures provide sources of entertainment for people of all age groups.
