The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The plan shows a comparison of a public park: 1920 vs today. The Grange Park which has two entrances making it easily accessible for the citizens living at Arnold Avenue and Eldon Street.

The park plan compared to 1920 has changed a lot today. The plan in 1920 had a water fountain in the centre of the park and a stage for musicians besides that. It also had a glasshouse next to the entrance at Eldon Street which is now replaced by a water feature and an entrance to an underground car park. The water fountain and the stage for musicians have also been replaced now by a rose garden and some seats around it and also an Amphitheater for concerts.

The park plan of 1920 had three rose gardens all on one side but now they have shortlisted it to one in the centre. The current plan also has a children’s play area and a cafe added to it.
