Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the park's transformation, identifying key changes such as the replacement of the fountain and the addition of the amphitheatre and underground parking. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. The overview is quite vague, stating that 'some are went under change', which lacks the precision expected at higher bands. While the main features are reported, the comparison between the two time periods could be more analytical. The response would benefit from a more structured approach to grouping the changes (e.g., structural additions vs. removals) to better highlight the evolution of the park's layout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, the phrase 'and like this their are lot of changes' is informal and lacks the necessary academic tone. Transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'both the entrance' without specifying which ones. While there is a logical progression from the general overview to specific details, the flow is hindered by repetitive sentence structures and awkward phrasing that disrupts the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the sophistication required for a higher band. There are several spelling errors, such as 'comapare', 'inuaguration', 'repalced', and 'beuatiful', which distract the reader. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic verbs like 'replaced' and 'remains'. While the student attempts to describe specific features like 'amphitheatre' and 'glasshouse', the lack of precise collocations and the presence of persistent spelling mistakes limit the score. To improve, the student should focus on using more varied descriptive language and ensuring accuracy in spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but grammatical errors are frequent and pervasive. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Their are multiple upgrades', 'both the entrance were remains'), incorrect verb tenses ('Some are went under change'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with errors in capitalization and sentence boundaries. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading and mastering basic sentence patterns is essential.
