Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the park in 1920 and today, identifying key changes such as the introduction of the amphitheatre and the conversion of the rose garden. However, the report is somewhat disorganized. The overview is cluttered and lacks clarity, and the description of the 1920 layout is repetitive and confusing, particularly regarding the location of the rose garden and the fountain. While the main features are identified, the comparison between the two time periods could be more structured and analytical to better highlight the transformation of the park.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. The overview is poorly integrated, and the transition between the 1920 description and the current layout is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'left side' and 'right side' without clear reference points. The paragraphing is inconsistent, with some sentences appearing as fragments or disconnected thoughts, which hinders the overall flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate to convey the basic information, but it is limited and often repetitive. There are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'grass house' instead of 'glasshouse' and 'in current time addition of' which is awkward. The student attempts to use specific terminology like 'amphitheatre' and 'amenities', but the overall control is inconsistent, and some phrasing is unnatural, which occasionally impacts the clarity of the description.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex structures, but grammatical accuracy is a significant issue. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'several amenities has been introduced'), missing articles, and awkward sentence construction. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and misplaced commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence structure prevents the writing from reaching a higher band.
