IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The diagrams illustrate the changes have been made in the grange park since1920 till now. Overall, several major changes were made in the central area of the park by replacing the fountain with the rose garden. The stage of musician and water ponds were designed in a modern way.

By 1920, the grange park had three rose gardens at each side of the park from which two were merged into the central place by removing the fountain. A stage of musician was converted into a semicircular amphitheatre designed for the concerts while the seating area were arranged in the centre around the rose garden.

The introduction of some new features which were not present in the past are: the children's play area, a cafe, a water feature (by replacing the pond) and a new entrance for underground car park.

Moreover, the two entrances are still present at the same place while a glasshouse has been removed completely.
