IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The maps illustrate the current layout of the Garage park and the purposed changes to the park.

Overall, the park has changed majorly compared to the old layout and new facilities has been constructed for people.

In 1920, in the middle of two entrance, there was a fountain and beside that the stage for musicians was located. The sitting areas were available around the park. The left-side to the ARNOLD AVENUE entrance, the rose garden and pond for plants were situated.

In the today's layout, the fountain has replaced by the rose garden and seats. The stage for musicians replaced by the Amphitheatre for concerts. In the past, there was a glasshouse available at the right-side to the ELDON STREET entrance, it has replaced by the water feature, besides that the underground car parking is located. Now the cafe and children's play area are situated at the left-side of the ARNOLD AVENUE entrance.
