Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all key features of the park's transformation. You successfully identified the removal of the fountain and glasshouse, the retention of one rose garden, and the addition of the amphitheatre and cafe. The overview clearly highlights the shift from a more traditional layout to a modernised one. However, the description of the underground car park is slightly inaccurate based on the visual evidence provided, and some details, such as the specific locations of the new facilities, could be more precisely described to improve the clarity of the comparison.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organised into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs focusing on the past and present respectively. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate time periods. You use some cohesive devices like 'while', 'in addition', and 'in the centre', which help the flow. However, there are some minor issues with punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas (e.g., 'Overall, the', 'In1920,there'), which makes the text look slightly mechanical. Improving the variety of linking phrases would help the progression feel more natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the changes, using terms like 'modernised', 'replaced', and 'amphitheatre'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'musicians' (spelled 'musicians' but written as 'musicians'), 'disappered' (disappeared), and 'noerth' (north). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on more precise collocations and ensure careful proofreading of common descriptive terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Several original features... have been removed or replaced, while new facilities... have been added.' There are several grammatical slips, including tense inconsistencies (e.g., 'The old pond had been replaced' should be 'has been replaced') and missing articles (e.g., 'in a centre' should be 'in the centre'). Punctuation errors, specifically missing spaces after commas, are frequent. While these errors rarely impede understanding, they indicate a need for more consistent control over basic grammatical rules.
