Student answer (Band 5.5)
The plans shows how a public park looks when it first opened in 1920 and how the same park looks today, so we'll make comparisons between them.
As we can see below that in 1920 the park's structure were old fashion, park consist of a fountain in the middle of the park and in the lift and right side of entrance their were a rose garden and some seating area and their were a small pond and the park has two entrances one from Arnold avenue and one from Eldon street and the park has plenty of seating are for people and the main thing the park has a stage for musicians and there were a glass house also there which is good to see .
After that we have structure of today's park which is well organized as compare to 1920s structure seating area is arranged properly around the rose garden in the center of park which looks pleasant and children's play area is constructed and a cafe is also there and stage for musicians is replaced with amphitheater for concerts.
in conclusion, todays park is well systematize compare to 1920s structure.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the park in 1920 and today, identifying key changes such as the addition of the cafe, children's play area, and the replacement of the stage with an amphitheater. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant changes, which is essential for Task 1. The description is somewhat repetitive and lacks precise detail regarding the layout (e.g., the specific locations of the rose gardens). To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary paragraph that highlights the overall transformation of the park from a more traditional layout to a modern, facility-oriented space.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into three paragraphs, which is a logical structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is very limited and often mechanical. Phrases like 'After that' and 'in conclusion' are used, but the internal flow within paragraphs is weak. Many sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, making the progression of ideas feel disjointed. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'in contrast', 'subsequently') and ensure that each sentence connects logically to the previous one to improve the overall flow of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. There is frequent repetition of basic words like 'park', 'structure', and 'area'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'well systematize' and 'old fashion'. There are also minor spelling and word-form errors, such as 'lift' instead of 'left' and 'are' instead of 'area'. To improve, focus on using more descriptive adjectives and synonyms to avoid repetition and enhance the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'The plans shows', 'park consist', 'structure were') and incorrect use of articles and prepositions. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with many sentences lacking proper full stops or commas, leading to run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors limits the score. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and using a wider range of complex sentence structures with accurate punctuation.
