Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all key features of the task, including the major transformations such as the replacement of the fountain and the addition of the amphitheatre. You have successfully identified the main trends and made relevant comparisons between 1920 and the present day. The overview is clear and provides a good summary of the changes. To reach a higher band, ensure that all details are accurate; for instance, you mentioned the fountain was replaced by a rose garden, but the map indicates the rose garden was replaced by the fountain area. Careful proofreading of the visual data is essential to ensure complete accuracy in your reporting.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group information by theme or location. You use cohesive devices such as 'however', 'while', and 'as' to connect ideas. However, the paragraphing could be improved; the second body paragraph is quite dense and could be split to better separate the different areas of the park. Additionally, some transitions feel slightly repetitive. Improving the flow between sentences by varying your linking words would enhance the overall readability and coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'undergone transformation', 'cater for', and 'recreation'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'ampitheatre' (amphitheatre), 'replacec' (replaced), and 'palk' (park), which slightly detract from the professional tone. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the precision is occasionally lacking. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that your spelling is accurate, as these minor slips prevent the response from reaching a higher band in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'The layouts display details of how a public park has undergone transformation'. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'how it looked like' (should be 'what it looked like') and 'at the North East' (should be 'in the north-east'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after commas and periods. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the text. Increasing your control over complex structures and refining your punctuation will help you achieve a higher score.
