Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student provides a basic overview of the changes in Grange Park's features from 1920 to the present, mentioning critical aspects such as the rose garden, entrances, and seating areas. However, the response lacks depth in explanation and comparison, leaving out some original features that were not retained and missing relevant details from the images. A more systematic approach to organizing the information and discussing the main trends would improve clarity and comprehension. This results in a score of 5 for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response shows some degree of coherence, but the organization is weak. The ideas are somewhat jumbled, making it difficult to follow the evolution of the park's layout and features clearly. The use of transitional phrases is inadequate, which impacts how smoothly the ideas connect. Improving the logical structure and using clear paragraphs would greatly enhance coherence. Thus, the coherence and cohesion score is 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary choice in this response contains several inaccuracies and informal expressions, such as "amazing" and "tremendous," which are too casual for an academic setting. The use of terms like "cafeteria" and "children playing area" also indicate a lack of precision. More formal and descriptive vocabulary would strengthen the writing, thus earning a score of 5 for lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammatical range and accuracy in the text show some variety, but there are frequent errors that detract from clarity. Issues with capitalization, subject-verb agreement ('their' vs. 'there'), and sentence structure (run-on sentences) could confuse readers. Correcting these errors and demonstrating a greater range of complex grammatical structures could improve this score, leading to a score of 5.

Overall feedback

The response demonstrates a basic understanding of how the features of Grange Park have changed over time. However, improvements are needed in structure and clarity. Organizing your response into clearly defined paragraphs would help guide the reader through your points more effectively. Additionally, using more precise and formal vocabulary can enhance the overall quality of your writing. Focus on reducing grammatical errors through careful proofreading. With attention to these areas, you can significantly boost your scores.
