Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the park in 1920 and today, identifying key changes such as the cafe, the amphitheatre, and the car park. However, the overview is quite brief and lacks a clear, cohesive summary of the overall transformation. Some details are slightly inaccurate or confusing, such as the description of the fountain being replaced by a rose garden, which could be more precisely described. To improve, ensure that the overview highlights the most significant trends, such as the shift from a more natural, seating-focused layout to a more facility-oriented park, rather than just listing individual changes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organized into a brief introduction and a body paragraph, but the lack of clear paragraphing makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic and repetitive manner (e.g., 'In 1920', 'In past park', 'In present plan'). The flow between sentences is somewhat mechanical, and the lack of clear transitions between the different areas of the park hinders the overall readability. To improve, use a wider range of linking words and structure the response into distinct paragraphs for the 1920 layout and the current layout.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with several spelling errors (e.g., 'agreas', 'chnaged', 'seprate', 'pound', 'aslo'). The range of words is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, but there is a lack of flexibility and precision. For instance, 'the area of glasshouse fully changed' is somewhat awkward. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise descriptive language for spatial changes and ensure accurate spelling of key terms related to park features.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The plans shows', 'their are alot of new areas are add') and incorrect verb tenses ('is used for pound', 'is changed into'). While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are persistent and affect the fluency of the writing. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage when describing past and present states would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
