Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the park in 1920 and today, identifying key changes such as the cafe, the amphitheatre, and the car park. However, the report lacks a clear structure and fails to group information logically, which hinders the overall summary. While the main points are addressed, the description of the changes is somewhat repetitive and lacks a sophisticated overview of the spatial layout. To improve, ensure that the introduction clearly paraphrases the prompt and that the body paragraphs are organized by thematic changes or geographical areas rather than a list-like description of features.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks effective paragraphing, appearing as a single block of text. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic and sometimes inaccurate manner, such as the repetitive use of 'in the past' and 'in present plan'. The progression of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two time periods. To reach a higher band, you should use clear paragraph breaks to separate different aspects of the park and employ a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'whereas', 'subsequently', 'in contrast') to connect your sentences more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with several spelling errors such as 'agreas', 'chnaged', 'seprate', 'pound' (instead of pond), and 'aslo'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. Phrases like 'is still same' and 'is changed into' are grammatically weak and lexically simplistic. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to maps and urban planning, and pay closer attention to spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('The plans shows', 'their are alot of new areas are add') and incorrect verb tenses ('that same area is used'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors that impede clarity. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically the use of passive voice for describing map changes, and proofread carefully to correct basic subject-verb agreement and tense consistency.
