Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the task achievement score. Because the response is incomplete, it fails to report all main features or make sufficient comparisons between the two time periods. The overview is very brief and lacks detail, and the body paragraph stops abruptly, failing to cover the majority of the changes shown in the diagrams, such as the addition of the water feature, the children's play area, or the removal of the stage. To improve, you must ensure you describe all key changes and meet the minimum word count.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is too short to demonstrate a full range of cohesive devices or effective paragraphing. While there is a basic attempt at an introduction and an overview, the progression of ideas is interrupted by the premature ending of the text. The use of linking words is minimal, and the logical flow is hindered by the lack of development. To achieve a higher score, you need to write a full response that uses a wider variety of cohesive devices (e.g., 'furthermore', 'in contrast', 'subsequently') to connect your ideas logically across several well-structured paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'entrance' and 'placed'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'bigger development made' and 'old place for people sitting'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe the visual data accurately or with any degree of sophistication. To improve, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to describing maps and changes, such as 'transformed', 'converted', 'relocated', or 'expanded', and work on using more precise nouns and adjectives to describe the park's features.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that affect clarity, such as 'in after the development there is new entrance made' and 'it placed in the centered'. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Errors in articles ('the underground car park') and prepositions are frequent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice, which is essential for describing changes in maps. You should also aim to incorporate a mix of simple and complex sentences to demonstrate better control.
