Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the maps, including the 1920 layout and the current changes. You successfully identified the removal of the fountain and stage, and the addition of the amphitheatre and car park. However, the overview is slightly weak; describing the new park as 'look like fantastic' is subjective and informal, rather than analytical. To improve, focus on summarizing the most significant trends, such as the shift from a passive recreational space to a more modern, facility-oriented park. You addressed all parts of the prompt, but the analysis could be more professional in tone.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, moving from an overview to specific details of the 1920 map, and finally the current map. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover', 'In contrast', and 'Further', which help the flow. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Today grange park, we are see more significant changes'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the progression between sentences could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally would elevate the score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'amphitheatre', 'diminished', and 'installed'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and non-standard collocations, such as 'local people park', 'ancient park', and 'the center place occupy by'. These errors occasionally impede the precision of your description. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary (e.g., 'the park underwent significant transformations' instead of 'we are see more significant changes') and ensure collocations are natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the grange park have', 'the center fountain has removed'), tense inconsistencies ('the pond for water plants is change'), and missing articles ('the center place', 'in top right'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the information, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent use of passive voice when describing map features.
