Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, reaching only 108 words. This significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the response. While the student identifies some key features, such as the pond and the glasshouse, the description is incomplete and stops abruptly mid-sentence. The overview is present but lacks sufficient detail to provide a comprehensive summary of the changes. To improve, the student must ensure all parts of the task are addressed and that the response meets the minimum length requirement to allow for a full analysis of the visual data.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response uses basic cohesive devices like 'To begin' and 'Furthermore' to organize ideas, which provides a degree of logical flow. However, the abrupt ending and the lack of a concluding summary hinder the overall coherence. Paragraphing is attempted, but the incomplete nature of the final sentence disrupts the structure. To achieve a higher score, the student should focus on completing all thoughts and ensuring that the progression of information is smooth and fully developed throughout the entire report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but remains quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'in now time' and 'on same place' are unnatural and indicate a lack of control over English collocations. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'amphitheatre' and 'glasshouse', the overall range is insufficient to convey the information with precision. Expanding the range of descriptive verbs and adverbs to describe the changes (e.g., 'transformed', 'converted', 'replaced') would significantly improve the lexical quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The rendered dual map illustrate') and incorrect article usage ('there was pond'). The sentence structures are simple, and the attempt at a complex structure is left unfinished. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces before periods. To improve, the student needs to focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles, while also working towards incorporating more varied and accurate complex sentence structures.
