Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified some key features of the maps, the summary is incomplete and lacks a clear overview of the major trends, such as the park's transition from a more natural, open space to a more structured, facility-oriented area. The description of changes is somewhat mechanical and lacks the necessary detail to fully address the task. To improve, ensure you provide a clear introductory overview and expand on the spatial relationships between the features in both 1920 and the present day.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks proper paragraphing, appearing as a single block of text. While there is a basic attempt at sequencing using phrases like 'to begin' and 'moving towards the further details', the lack of clear paragraph structure makes the information difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or mechanically applied. The flow between sentences is disjointed, and the lack of an overview paragraph further hinders the logical progression of the response. Improving the use of paragraphing and varying your linking words will help create a more cohesive report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic verbs like 'change' and 'replace'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'enterance has been remained maintained' and 'which seats are available in park has been shift'. These errors occasionally impede the clarity of the description. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe spatial changes, such as 'transformed', 'converted', 'relocated', or 'demolished', and ensure that your word forms are accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding verb tenses and passive voice construction. Examples include 'has been remained maintained', 'has been change', and 'has been shift'. These errors are persistent and sometimes make the meaning unclear. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas. To improve, focus on mastering the passive voice for describing changes and ensure subject-verb agreement. Practicing the use of complex sentences, such as using 'while' or 'whereas' to contrast features, will also help improve your grammatical range.
