Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the park in 1920 and today, identifying key changes such as the addition of the car park and the transformation of the rose gardens. However, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, analytical overview. While the main features are identified, the reporting is occasionally inaccurate (e.g., stating the fountain was removed, when the plan shows it remains). The summary of the changes is present but lacks the precision required for a higher band, as some details are confusingly expressed, such as the description of the seating areas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'In year 1920, the was two rose garden'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track the location of specific features. The progression of ideas is present but feels disjointed due to the repetitive sentence structures and limited range of linking words. Improved use of referencing (e.g., 'the former', 'the latter') would enhance the flow significantly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'place', 'side', and 'change'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and collocation, such as 'starts in 1920' instead of 'opened in 1920' and 'converters' instead of 'converted'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the frequent errors in word form (e.g., 'bigining', 'location' used as a verb) restrict the score. To improve, you should focus on using more precise verbs and nouns related to describing maps and changes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the was two rose garden'), incorrect verb tenses ('is build', 'is location'), and missing articles. These errors are noticeable and occasionally cause the reader to pause, though they do not completely impede communication. Complex structures are attempted but are usually inaccurate. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on consistent tense usage for past and present timeframes and improve your control over basic sentence construction.
