IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The provided maps compare the layout of the Grange park in 1920 and how it looks today after renovation.

Overall, the public park has undergone significant changes after it's redevelopment. The major changes include a water feature, a underground car park, the removal of the fountain, an inclusion of children's play area and reconstruction of musicians' stage into a amphitheatre for concerts.

In 1920, a fountain was located at the center of the park. Left to that, a stage for musicians was situated. There were five seating arrangements at the sides of the park, three of which were surrounded by rose gardens. A glasshouse can be noticed at the bottom-right corner. At the top-right corner ponds for water plants was located and the park had two main entrance, one at the top center and another at the bottom center.

Today, the pond at the top-right corner has been changed to a play area for children and in the former rose garden in front of that is now a cafe. Both the entrances remained same, whereas the seats are now at the former fountain
