Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response provides a clear overview of the changes between 1920 and the present day. You successfully identified the main features, such as the removal of the fountain and glasshouse, and the addition of the amphitheatre and cafe. However, the overview paragraph is slightly underdeveloped and lacks a cohesive summary of the most significant trends. While you mention that seating positions changed, you could have more effectively highlighted the overall shift from a more formal, garden-focused layout to a more recreational, facility-oriented space. The information is generally accurate, but some descriptions, such as the movement of the rose gardens, could be clearer to ensure the reader fully understands the spatial changes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs focusing on specific areas of the park. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'However' and 'In recent times', to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear (e.g., 'it is shifted' refers back to 'seats', but the plural/singular agreement is inconsistent). Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents would help the text flow more naturally and improve the overall coherence of your report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'demolished', 'renovated', and 'amphitheatre' appropriately. There are some instances where word choice could be more precise; for example, 'drastic transformation' is a good collocation, but 'positions were changed' is quite vague. You also rely on some repetitive phrasing, such as 'rose garden' appearing multiple times in a short space. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied synonyms or descriptive phrases to describe the changes in the park's layout and features, rather than repeating the same nouns.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, particularly regarding articles (e.g., 'fountain was placed', 'stage for musicians') and subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'third rose garden remain the same'). Additionally, there are some tense inconsistencies, such as mixing past and present tenses when describing the current state of the park. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for articles and consistent verb tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
