Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the park in 1920 and today. However, the description is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear comparative analysis. While you mention that the park has changed, you do not effectively contrast the specific locations or the removal of features (e.g., the fountain and the stage are no longer present). The overview is present but could be more detailed regarding the nature of the transformation. To improve, ensure you explicitly compare the 'before' and 'after' states rather than listing them in separate paragraphs, and provide a more comprehensive summary of the overall trends observed in the layout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and mechanical (e.g., 'firstly', 'moreover', 'furthermore'). The progression of ideas is logical but lacks sophistication. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'All conner of picture', which makes the spatial description difficult to follow. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the transition between the 1920 layout and the current layout is smoother and more integrated.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. You use phrases like 'in more detail' twice, which limits the range. There are also some errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'conner' instead of 'corner' and 'happened place' instead of 'taken place'. To improve, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to maps and changes, such as 'replaced by', 'transformed into', 'situated in the north-east', or 'demolished'. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and verbs will help convey the changes more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'The given pictures depicts' (subject-verb agreement), 'happened place' (incorrect verb phrase), and missing articles (e.g., 'in north', 'in middle area'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with irregular spacing and unnecessary commas. While the meaning is generally clear, these errors occur throughout the text. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and proofreading for basic punctuation and spelling errors.
