Student answer (Band 6.0)
This diagram illustrate the operation of Grange Park from 1920 til date.
Entrance has remained unchanged through Arnold avenue and Eldon street from 1920 till present day, although there is a noticable addition of an underground car park in the present day park.
In 1920 the center of the park had a fountain, in contrast to present day the center has Rose garden with seats around for relaxation.
Looking at one side of the park in the late 1920, there are two Rose garden coupled with seats round them and a stage for musician in-between the Rose garden, while the present day park has a Rose garden, no noticable seats were observed. Ot only has an Amphitheatre for concerts.
On the other side, from 1920 till today. The park has a pond for water plants with a Rose garden close to it and a glass house with seats around it, while the later had a cafe and children's play ground alongside a water feature adjacent to it.
In conclusion, there has been some changes made to reflect the present day societal need of entertainment and children welfare.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the park in 1920 and today, identifying key changes such as the addition of the car park, the amphitheatre, and the cafe. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary of the most significant trends, which is essential for a high band score. Some descriptions are slightly inaccurate or confusing, such as the mention of 'two Rose garden' in the 1920 section when the map shows a different layout. To improve, ensure you provide a distinct overview paragraph that highlights the transformation of the park from a more traditional garden space to a modern recreational facility.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the comparison. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'while' and 'in contrast to'. The transition between the description of the 1920 park and the present day is sometimes abrupt. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the progression of ideas flows more naturally between sentences. Referencing is generally clear, but the logical flow could be strengthened by grouping features more effectively rather than just listing them side-by-side.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the reader to understand the changes described. There are some attempts at topic-specific vocabulary like 'amphitheatre' and 'underground car park'. However, there are several errors in word form and collocation, such as 'noticable' (spelling), 'musician' (should be plural), and 'Ot only' (likely a typo for 'It only'). The range is somewhat limited, and the phrasing is occasionally awkward, which prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on accurate spelling and more precise descriptive language would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('This diagram illustrate') and missing articles ('has a Rose garden', 'has an Amphitheatre'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and sentence fragments. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to limit the score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring basic grammatical accuracy is the primary area for improvement.
