The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The plans provided here demonstrate the apparent changes that have occurred from 1920 onwards until this day.

Overall, the entrances have remained unchanged as they were in 1920. One of the key changes is that the fountain has been replaced with a huge and spacious Rose garden right in the centre of the park, thus showing that the people found it necessary to have a place to gather in the middle of the park with a bit of natural aroma of beautiful flowers. Similarly, Pond for water plants has also been removed in exchange for a Children's play area, indicating that there was a need for a kind of place wherein children could spend their free time. Likewise, the Glasshouse has been traded for a Water feature to enhance the natural look of the park and keep it well refreshing for the visitors. Interestingly, with a bit of renovation, the Stage for musicians has been upgraded to an Amphitheatre for concerts. Additionally, a cafe has been added in the park for those who would want to have a sip of a cold or a hot beverage.
