Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the task achievement score. While you have identified the main features of the park in 1920 and today, the overview is slightly disjointed and contains a significant error in the second paragraph ('bin rose garden'). The description of changes is generally accurate, but the lack of sufficient length prevents a full development of the comparison. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview and expand on the descriptions of the changes to meet the length requirement, ensuring all key features are clearly described.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of time. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the phrase 'which is demolished by rose garden today'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your pronouns and references clearly point back to the subjects mentioned earlier in the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are several awkward collocations and word choice errors, such as 'bin rose garden' (likely a typo for 'been') and 'converted by children's play area'. The use of vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, relying on simple structures to describe the changes. To improve, try to incorporate more precise verbs for describing spatial changes, such as 'replaced', 'transformed', 'relocated', or 'expanded'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'there was two seats which is removed' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'to the north east part of corner there were to pond' (preposition and pluralization errors). While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation limit the score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions to improve accuracy.
