Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which severely limits the ability to provide a full overview or detailed comparisons. The description of the 1920 plan is incomplete, and the response ends abruptly after only one sentence regarding the present-day plan. Consequently, the main features are not adequately reported, and the comparison is non-existent. To improve, you must ensure you describe all key changes between the two time periods and meet the word count requirement to allow for a full development of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear structure due to its incomplete nature. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the abrupt ending prevents any logical progression or flow. Cohesive devices are largely absent, and the referencing of locations (e.g., 'west north') is confusing and lacks precision. To improve, ensure you use clear transition signals to link your ideas and organize your report into a logical sequence, such as an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and then specific details.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'development changes' and 'convent' (likely meant 'convenient'). The description of locations is imprecise, using phrases like 'west north' instead of standard geographical terminology like 'north-west'. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary related to describing maps and changes, such as 'transformed', 'replaced', or 'situated'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. There are missing verbs (e.g., 'the fountain built' instead of 'the fountain was built'), incorrect prepositions, and issues with subject-verb agreement. Sentence structures are simple and often fragmented. To improve, focus on using passive voice correctly for describing map changes (e.g., 'a new playground was constructed') and ensure every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb.
