Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all key features of the maps, effectively highlighting the transformation from 1920 to the present day. You have successfully identified the major changes, such as the replacement of the stage with an amphitheatre and the conversion of the pond into a play area. The overview provides a clear summary of the redevelopment. To reach a higher band, ensure that all comparisons are precise; for instance, you mention the cafe replacing a rose garden, but the map shows the cafe replaced the glasshouse area. Overall, the information is well-selected and the main trends are clearly reported, meeting the requirements for a high band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs detailing the past and present states. The progression of information is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In 1920', 'Today', and 'In addition' to link ideas. However, there are minor issues with punctuation and sentence structure, such as the fragmented sentence '...or relocated. and a number of recreational facilities...'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring punctuation is accurate would enhance the flow and cohesion of the response, moving it toward a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary appropriate for describing maps, such as 'redevelopment', 'perimeter', 'transformed', and 'constructed'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'stage for musician' (should be 'musicians') and 'cafe is have been added' (grammatical error affecting lexical clarity). While the range is sufficient to convey meaning precisely, there is a slight lack of flexibility in some descriptions. Incorporating more varied synonyms for 'replaced' or 'removed' would further strengthen this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical errors that slightly impede the flow. Examples include 'The maps illustrates' (subject-verb agreement), 'gone under several redevelopment' (incorrect preposition/noun form), 'Seating were' (subject-verb agreement), and 'cafe is have been added' (incorrect verb tense). These errors are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage when describing past and present states.
