Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response successfully identifies the main features of the park in 1920 and compares them with the current layout. You have highlighted the key transformations, such as the replacement of the stage with an amphitheatre and the fountain with a rose garden. The overview provides a clear summary of the changes. To reach a higher band, ensure that all features mentioned in the prompt are described with greater precision; for instance, the 'glasshouse' and 'water feature' are mentioned, but their relative locations could be described more clearly to help the reader visualize the changes. Overall, the task is well-addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs that separate the past and present states. The use of cohesive devices such as 'In 1920', 'Today', and 'Additionally' helps the reader follow the progression of time. However, the cohesion is occasionally mechanical, and some sentences in the introduction are slightly disjointed, such as 'thru time it park has changes'. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring more varied linking phrases would enhance the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have used a range of vocabulary appropriate for describing maps, such as 'transformation', 'replaced', 'substituted', and 'undergone'. There are some minor spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'Amphithatre' (spelling), 'pubic' (likely a typo for 'public'), and 'thru' (informal). While these do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of technical terms related to the task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'it park has changes' (subject-verb agreement and tense), 'fountain on the middle' (preposition error), and 'undergone gone' (repetition). While the meaning remains clear, these errors occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that verb tenses are used consistently when describing past versus present states.
