IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The spatial maps compare Grange Park on Arnold Avenue in 1920 and at present times.

The park has repositioned some of its amentities while, removed the others. Although, the replacement of stage for musicians to an amphitheatre for concerts remains the centre of attraction.

Firstly, from the three rose gardens; two have been accumulated in the centre of the park with seating arranged around it while the rose garden in the west remains untouched. This resulted in removal of the fountain from the centre of the park and introduction of a new water feature in the east of the park.

Subsequently, the glasshouse in the east of the park has been abolished. Similarly, the pound for water plants has also been replaced with a Children's play area with a newly built cafe right next to it.

In the west lies the new amphitheatre for concerts which has been built in place of the stage for musicians,

Lastly, an underground car park has also been constructed in the east of the park with an entrance near the water feature.
