The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The plan shows the contrast between the map of a public park in 1920 and today. The park has gone through substantial changes over time. There have been addition and removal of facilities, while the some facilities still exist from 1920, but have changed their locations.

The park now has two entrances instead of one in 1920. An underground car park has also been installed. Pond for water and plants has been removed to make room for children's play area. Just alongside children's play area a cafe is installed where once 1 of 3 rose gardens existed in 1920. Earlier, the location of the Amphitheatre was occupied by a stage for musicians. Also, the Glasshouse has been replaced by a water feature.

There are 4 seats now in comparison to 6 in 1920, seats were earlier scattered all over the park just like the rose gardens, but they now surround the rose garden in the centre of the park. The number of rose gardens has also shrunk from 3 to 2, The second rose garden is located just above the Amphitheatre.
