Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response successfully covers all parts of the task by identifying and reporting the main features of the public park in both 1920 and the present day. You have made relevant comparisons, such as noting how the original fountain was transformed into a rose garden and how the stage for musicians was converted into an amphitheatre. The overview paragraph effectively highlights that the site underwent numerous developments and establishments. While some of the spatial details could be slightly more precise, the key transformations between the two maps are clearly laid out and adequately supported with evidence from the visual data, fulfilling the core requirements of Academic Task 1.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The text demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement, with a clear beginning overview and subsequent paragraphs detailing specific areas of the park. You have attempted to guide the reader using transition phrases like 'As per the map', 'Additionally', and 'Probing further'. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or awkward, as seen in phrases like 'the center located fountain' and 'in the east-north corner'. Paragraphing is used to separate different sections of the park, but referencing and logical progression can feel slightly disjointed due to grammatical awkwardness within sentences. Overall, the information flows recognizably from one area to another.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have used an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items related to map descriptions, such as 'transformed', 'converted', 'amphitheatre', and 'underground car park'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'rose garder' instead of 'garden', and awkward collocations like 'underwent with numerous developments'. Furthermore, repetition of structures and basic phrasing limits the precision of the descriptions. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they reflect a Band 5.5 to 6.0 level of lexical control, where vocabulary is minimally adequate but lacks polished execution.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses such as 'which was launched in 1920' and 'which was also converted into amphitheatre'. However, grammatical control is inconsistent, resulting in frequent errors that affect clarity. Examples include missing articles ('how it look like in present', 'built new cafe'), incorrect prepositions ('underwent with'), and awkward phrasing ('the center located fountain'). Complex structures are often faulty, and punctuation is occasionally neglected. Although the overall message remains understandable, the density of grammatical slips keeps the score within the Band 5 range.
