Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student successfully identifies the main changes between 1920 and the present day in Grange Park, noting key replacements such as the fountain with a central rose garden, the pond with a children's play area, and the glasshouse with a water feature. An overview is present in the second paragraph, capturing the overall modernization of the park. However, some spatial descriptions are slightly vague or informal, such as 'the left and right spaces' or 'on the left of the center', and the overview lacks a bit of analytical depth regarding the overall spatial reorganisation. Overall, all parts of the prompt are addressed competently.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is logically organized into four paragraphs with a clear introduction, overview, and two body paragraphs detailing the past and present layouts. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Additionally', 'Furthermore', and 'However', though some transitions feel slightly mechanical ('In present'). Paragraphing is appropriate, separating the historical layout from the modern one. Referencing is generally clear, although occasional cohesion errors like 'In present, the park have observed' slightly disrupt the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary suitable for a map comparison, using terms like 'modernization', 'enhancement', 'infrastructure', and 'amphitheatre'. However, there are notable lexical and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'opnened', 'childern's', 'cenral', 'remianed', 'repalced', and awkward collocations like 'evolutionary difference among the infrastructure'. While the range is adequate to convey the meaning, these frequent minor errors limit the score to a Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing passive structures ('has been replaced', 'have been introduced') and prepositional phrases. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with multiple errors in subject-verb agreement and tense usage, such as 'the grange park have experienced', 'the park have observed', 'the central space have experienced', and 'retained thier locations'. Punctuation is also erratic in places (e.g., missing capital letters at the start of sentences like 'in addition' and 'However'). These errors frequently impede fluency.
