The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The provided maps illustrates the changes in Grange Park which took place in 1920 and compared them with prsent day.
Overall, it can be seen that park has modernized with the addition of new facilities, while features have been removed and replaced, some have been retained. The most noticeable developments are the children's play area, a water feature, a cafe and a amphitheater for concerts.
In 1920, the park had a simple layout. There were the two main entrance on the north and south sides of the park, while seats were present on the southeast and southwest corners. On the left side of the entrances, seats were located for public and next to it rose gardens were constructed. A stage for musicians was situated at the west side of the park, whereas a fountain was present at the centre. On the right sides of the entrance a glass house and a rose garden were present.
Today, the park has modern structure. On the right side of the north entrance, rose garden has been replaced by a cafe. A children's play area has been constructed on the northeast corner of the park.
