The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The two diagrams illustrate the layout of a park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.
Overall, the park has been modernized and upgraded. It involves various facilities such as a cafe, an amphitheatre for concerts, children's playing area and car parking. In contrast, there are several sections whose position is left unchanged.
In 1920, there was a fountain in the center of the park, which has now been replaced with a rose garden. Additionally, there were several seats located at the edges of the garden in 1920. The four seats have now been relocated around the rose garden in the center and one seat is removed. Moreover, there was a stage for musicians on the western side of the park, which is replaced with an amphitheatre for concerts. However, rose garden on southern side of an amphitheatre is removed.
On the other hand, in 1920, there was a rose garden on the north-east side of the garden, which has now been replaced with a cafe. In addition, there was a pond for water plants just beside the rose garden in 1920, which has now been demolished and area is used as a children's play area. Similarly, on the south-eastern side of the park, there was a glasshouse. It has now been replaced with a water feature. An additional facility like underground car parking is included on the eastern side of the park. Meanwhile, the location of north-western rose garden and both the entrances was remained unchanged.
