The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The plans illustrate changes that took place in a park from 1920 till now.

Overall the park underwent significant modifications with the most prominent change is the substitution of a rose garden with seats around it in the centre of the park in place of the fountain. Both of the entrances remained the same. The stage for musicians with seats for the audience is replaced with amphitheature for concerts in the western side of the park. An rose garden on the western side is no more there.

In the eastern side, the pond for water plants has also been replaced by children's play area with the additon of a water feature in its southern side. The rose garden beside the enterance in the north side is substituted with a cafe which is exactly alonside the children's play area now. A water feature is constructed in place of the Glasshouse in the south of the children's play area.
