The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

Two plans are illustrated which show the state of the Grange park. The first illustration is dated in the year 1920 when the park was opened. The second illustration provides the current layout of the park

Overall the area of the park is maintained through the years. The park has the same entrance points where one is facing the Arnold avenue and the other is facing the Eldon street. Almost all the infrastructure in the park except for the rose garden in the top left of the map has been updated.

The fountain in the central area of the park has been removed and a rose garden has been developed in place with four seats available on its four sides. On the bottom right of the map glass house and seats have been substituted with a water feature. On the top right cafe and children's playing area have been developed in place of the water pond and rose garden.

On the left side of the park a large amphitheatre is developed for concerts which substitutes the small stage of musicians that was there earlier. In the present park layout a new underground parking facility has been established which can be entered from the bottom left of the map area.
