IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

These two maps show and compare the structure of the park nowadays and when it was opened. The maps illustrate different type of features and changes in both time views.

The overview of park describes that alot of changes have been made since it was first opened till today but the one thing that remained same throughout these years is the entrance of the park and the position of the rose garden.

In 1920, the park has completey different structure. There was a pond in the right corner the source of water, a giant fountain in the middle of the garden, on left side to fountain there was a stage for musicians and all the four sides of the stage was occupied by the seats.

Today, the park is reconstructed according to modern era need. This recreation includes children's play area at the top right corner, on the left side there is a big amphitheatre which is made for the performances or for concerts, this park also has an underground car parking system and there is a large area in the centre of the garden for roses.
