IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The plans below show a public park when it first opened in 1920 and the same park today.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

This map illustrates the developments and changes occured in the Grange Park for public at the time of its establishment in 1920 and now. Overall, the addition of new facilities has taken place along with the change in previous seating structure and the removal of previous entertainment facilities.

In the middle of the park, fountain has been replaced by a rose garden surrounded by seats in all four sides which were previously arranged with the boundary walls. An amphitheatre for concerts has been built in the place of stage for musicians. Whereas in the right side of the park, empty space is now utilized by beautiful water feature, children's play area and a cafe.

The entrance has remained the same as in the beginning. However, a separate entrance is provided for the underground car parking at the right corner of the park, which was not available to the public in 1920.
